Caries
& Lumoral treatment
Bacteria in dental plaque cause 95% of the oral diseases. Lumoral is a light-activated solution for oral health. It is the state-of-the-art treatment for managing bacterial plaque, while supporting oral flora.

Caries is the most common chronic disease around the world. Dental costs, including those pertaining to caries treatment, amount 5 % of the total health care-related costs around the world. Caries is also the most common cause for failure of dental fillings, crowns and bridges.
According to Swedish researchers, up to 20 per cent of
children have a particularly virulent strain of Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) in their mouths, which can cause severe tooth decay. Virulent strain has increased ability to attach to teeth surfaces, and tolerate acidic conditions.
Lumoral prevents tooth decay in three ways:
• It effectively eliminates the harmful acid-forming bacteria that cause tooth decay
• It slows down the development of new plaque on the tooth surface
• It has sustained effect in regular use
Dr Tommi Pätilä is a surgeon at HUS New Children's Hospital in
Finland, and one of the developers of the antibacterial oral care method. “Lumoral improves children's self-care of their teeth. It is an essential addition to oral hygiene, if an existing oral disease requires more than just mechanical brushing and flossing."
"Mechanical teeth cleaning methods are the key to good oral
health. Brushing, however, only removes 50-60 per cent of plaque at best. The antibacterial Lumoral method is a very effective yet gentle way to improve plaque control, while supporting normal oral flora."
Control Every: 12 months
✓ Mild gingivitis
✓ Prevention of bacterial dental diseases
✓ Moderate risk for caries
✓ Moderate tartar formation
✓ Bad breath
Periodontitis treatment: patients with stable treatment results and without additional risk factors.
Control Every: 3 months
✓ High caries risk
✓ Moderate gingivitis
✓ Severe tartar formation
✓ Periodontitis stage 1-2
✓ aMMP-8 above 20 ng / ml
Periodontitis treatment: patients with additional risk factors such as diabetes mellitus, cardio-vascular disease or smoking, long-term therapy is recommended.
Control Every: 1 months
✓ Severe gingivitis
✓ Periodontitis stage 3-4
✓ aMMP-8 significantly elevated
With intensive therapy, the light activation can be increased to up to 30 minutes for every Lumorinse dose. (Longer treatment time increases the antibacterial effect).
